Easier ways

There has to be easier, if not faster ways of getting off my bike. We arrived home yesterday morning, after our bike ride. I had struggled all the way round, even on the first hill my legs didn’t want to know, my thighs were burning and I had to stop 3 times to get up the hill. (Last week I stopped once on this same hill). I am now sporting a few extra bumps and some nice colourful patterns on my body, from the bruising. I have cleats in my shoes to clip into my pedals, yesterday I just couldn’t get my feet to unclip when we arrived home. So yes you’ve guessed, the bike went sideways and down I went. I’m just glad we had made it home and that this didn’t happen out on the busy main road.

I couldn’t get up at first, through laughing. Once I was up, I was limping a little, no damage to my bike but my wrist had swollen nicely and my hip. My back was acheing for awhile after and today I did make it to work but couldn’t do anything, I kept catching my wrist and the pain would shoot up into my elbow, which is also bruised and swollen. So I’ve felt quite sick at work today. Thankfully I’m home now and have just had a nice soak in the bath to ease those aches and pains.

Needless to say I’ve changed my pedals now, no more cleats…LMAO!

I hope everyone else had a lovely weekend.

Hubby’s Birthday Treat

We went for a day out and about today, we walked into town for breakfast then back through the meadow to the Botanic Gardens, it was like we were the only people in the meadow, I suppose the time of year and the fact it had started to rain (again). From there we walked back into town to visit a couple of Museums, then a bit of birthday shopping for hubby and onto the restaurant for dinner. It kept raining on and off all day, so I was thankful to get home; but I also had a lovely day and so did hubby :)

OMG!!!!!

What a weekend so far, my legs and back think I’m trying to torture them. We went to the gym Friday morning then for a bike ride in the afternoon. Saturday we went for another medium length bike ride and then today Sunday, What was I thinking! We set off this morning early, to miss most of the traffic; as we set off it started raining only lighly so not to bad in itself, but as we hit the first hill the wind started blowing in from the fields knocking me sidewards making the hill a struggle. We had about 3 steep hills and a lot of little ones. It was only 27 km but felt a whole lot further. I was certainly glad to be home.

This is what my Hubby wanted to do as it’s his birthday today so the days events were his choice…LOL!

I swear he’s going mad!!!

Out and About

We cycled out to visit my mum in law today, stopping at the shopping centre on the way. We bought more than we had planned, more gadgets for the bikes..lol. and food flask, so we can have soups and broths for work. Buying the extra stuff weighed the bikes down more and we still had the hill to get up.. I’m surprised I made it to his mums in one piece with the wind trying it’s damndest to knock me off my bike..ha!

We helped her with some light housework and making the bed for her, the least we could do as she makes us some lunch.

Cycling back was even worse, the wind was right in our face and wasn’t letting up, my legs were moving, the pedals were going round, but I didn’t feel like I was making any progess. I was most definitely glad when I got in.

A nice relaxing evening ahead now thank you very much. I will sleep like a log tonight.

Bye all have a great weekend

Work,Work,Work

That’s all I feel like I’m doing lately, I was in everyday last week  and I mean everyday all 7 of them 4 days of 12 hour shifts and 3 days at 6 hours. Then I don’t feel like I want to do anything when I get home, so it’s amazing I’ve actually made it to the gym recently. I’ve had 1 day off this week so far, but today I was on my own (this seems a common occurence) trying to cover all the work, plus keep ontop of my paperwork. Lovely. I’m just glad I’m off this weekend and will beable to enjoy the Remembrance day Parade, with my hubby. It always brings a lump to my throat watching all the old veterans marching past. Makes me think of my friends that are still in the military.

Well lets see what tomorrow brings, I should only be doing 6 and 1/2 hours tomorrow. But if no staff turn up, I’ll be there for 12 hours.

Preparing myself for my Holiday

I am trying to lose weight but also get fit for a cycling holiday we are planning on next year. I cycle to work everyday and cycle when I’m not at work, locally anyway. I also go to the gym and do 45 mins cardio and 45 mins of weights about 3 times a week. I can’t go to the gym anymore than this due to my shift pattern at work. I do also work on our allotment, digging, weeding, tilling etc. So I am fairly active. So now I’m trying to get the balance right with what I eat. I’ve recently started counting calories and am seeing progress, so far this has been motivation for me to stick with this control of what I eat and drink. I have cut back on chocolate (which I love) and lager so hopefully I’ll see more improvement before christmas.

Wish me luck :)
